The AICM will be well represented in Tamworth in January with two bands and a number of individuals travelling to the Country Music Festival for 2010.
Many of the members will be travelling on the bus with students from the Country Music School of Excellence. The AICM is most thankful to the CMSOE for their support in making this combined trip possible. While in Tamworth, students from both groups will stay at the Farrer Memorial Agricultural college. Students will travel down to Tamworth on Sunday January 14th and return to Gympie on Sunday January 24th.
Two bands, The Institute and The Bandicoots will perform in talent quests and busk in Peel St as part of experiencing life of a musician in Tamworth during the festival. We plan to have a performance night at the AICM in the week prior to leaviing so keep an eye out for a notice about the program.

The AICM is indeed pleased to be able to count someone like Alan Jones as a friend. Alan, who now lives near Gympie, has had wide success in the songwriting field, not only in Australia but also in Nashville Tennessee.
Saturday November 28th saw Alan running a songwriting workshop which created great enthusiasism among the attendees.
Alan is keen to promote songwriting in the area "because that is the future of the music industry". To that end, Alan has agreed to work with the AICM in promoting monthly songwriter's evenings where by original songs are performed and submitted to a committee which will decide whether the songs are suitable for further promotion in the music industry.

Gympie's Beef and Burgandy group recently used the Auditorium for their end of year function. While everything went well as far as building and its facilities were concerned, there was not much that could be done about the temperature. It turned out to be a great place to have a meal.

Interested in a trip of a lifetime to Twang Town USA to record some of your songs in a Nashville studio using Nashville session musicians.
The AICM is organising a trip in 2010 to Nashville for people who would like to record in the city. The tour will be two weeks long and include a weekend in Memphis on the way over and a day at Disneyland on the way back.
Given sufficient numbers, the tour will be led by AICM manager (and regular Nashville visitor) Dr Geoff Walden and AICM studio engineer Aaron Partridge. All arrangements for studio time and session musicians will be made prior to leaving and Nashville contact for all of this side of things will be resident and ex-pat Aussie, Mark Moffatt.
If you are interested in being part of this tour, contact either Geoff Walden or Aaron Partridge by email of phone us on 07 5481 2355.
