Members of the AICM guitar group (and some other community members) were pleased to be able to participate in a stage craft workshop presented in the new auditorium by Trevor Johnson.
Trevor has been involved with the entertainment industry for more years than he cares to remember and his experience covers the whole spectrum of the industry from performing onstage to managing artists and promotional work. As well, he has been a judge on the country music festival circuit for more that 30 years. He was recently pleased to be included in the list of judges for the prestigious Golden Guitar Awards.
Gympie participants were provided with the opportunity to "show their stuff" on stage and then listen to constructive criticism, not only from Trevor, but also from other participants.
The session proved to be most beneficial and members were keen to add another such workshop to the calendar.

The Gympie APEX Club held its 09 change over dinner in the Auditorium on June 20 and it proved to be a great opportunity for AICM students and staff to demonstrate their musical prowess. About 80 members and partners sat down for a dinner that was prepared by caterers off site.
James Dean, Linc Phelps and Nick Aitken joined AICM staff members Aaron Partridge and Geoff Walden to provide the music for the night. Dinner music was provided for the first session followed by dance music later in the evening.

The Gympie Rotary Club was recently invited by AICM Board President Gerry Crotty to have their weekly meeting in the auditorium. A good number of members and their partners turned up and were provided with a bar-b-que catered for by Rotary member John Rees. The food was cooked on a bar-b-que set up on the verandah of the building and served from the kitchen.
AICM student Linc Phelps provided some acoustic music during the meal and Gerry spoke about the renovations that have been completed to date. Dr Geoff Walden then spoke about the classes that are being run in the venue and played examples or some of the music that is being recorded by aicmStudio under the direction of engineer Aaron Partridge.

Gaming fund grant
The AICM has been successful in gaining a grant from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund. For those of you who have been in our new auditorium, you will be aware that there are no chairs. As well, there are no tables for the lunch room so we applied for over $9000 to buy some furniture.
The grant application was submitted in November 08 and we were advised by letter in June that we have been successful. Unfortunately prices have changed somewhat since the application went in so we are going to have to work hard to make the funding stretch as far as we would like it to.
